# Aggression from the North poster 408 (Spanish poster distributed in Mexico City)

Red arrows run from Hanoi through Laos into South Vietnam. Four captured-soldier portraits, photographs of a sunk cargo vessel at Cabo Varella with munitions, and images of a burned clinic, a mined bus and a derailed train support the text that the war is an invasion planned in the North. The tell is card-stacking: selected evidence is arranged to permit only that reading.

CAP. NGUYEN VAN DO
Comandante, 1er.

AGGRESSION FROM THE NORTH

The conflict in South Vietnam is a war of aggression, carefully planned and fiercely fought by invading forces from North Vietnam. Trained for combat and subversion at secret bases such as Xuan Mai, about 37,000 Viet Cong soldiers have been infiltrated into South Vietnam, through neutral Laos, since 1959 (see map). Using modern weapons produced by Communist China and other Communist nations, these professional soldiers have led some 80,000 local guerrillas in the fight against South Vietnam. Meanwhile the Hanoi government has denied that it controls the Viet Cong. Now an overwhelming weight of evidence reveals the aggression of North Vietnam.

Only part of that evidence is presented here: (1) photographs taken in February 1965 at Cabo Varella, where a North Vietnamese military cargo ship was sunk after unloading 100 tons of Chinese Communist arms and ammunition; (2) typical cases of Viet Cong terrorism against the civilian population; and (3) examples of North Vietnamese soldiers captured in the South.

(Portrait and photograph captions as above: four captured or defecting officers with their units, dates and places; a South Vietnamese soldier on munition crates from the sunk ship; divers exploring the wreck, where North Vietnamese sailors' bodies and documents were found; Chinese inscriptions on grenades and bombs; a document of Group 125 of the North Vietnamese navy; a burned hospital at Vinh Binh in 1962; a bus mined near Moc Hoa on 3 May 1964 (14 civilians killed, 15 wounded, over 1,300 civilians killed in similar incidents in 1964); a derailed train at Thu Duc on 17 January 1965 (over 400 local officials killed and over 1,000 kidnapped in 1964).)

Very small caption text was read from the image; 'survietnamés' and 'se apresten' are printed as shown; one soldier count in the first portrait caption is [illegible]. Translation condenses the photo captions in a summary paragraph rather than word by word.
