# Aids to Highlander's Hamlets, Binh Long Province (Công cuộc viện trợ vào tận các ấp Thượng tỉnh Bình-Long)

A landscape photo-spread (code SP-1861) shows rice and flour being handed out to villagers, a U.S. Army medical team pulling teeth and treating a child with skin sores, and a Vietnamese soldier washing children. The text says liberated hamlets are receiving food, medicine and help, that villagers repay this with information on the Viet Cong, and that they should call on relatives in the Viet Cong ranks to rally. Aid imagery is paired with an explicit request for intelligence and defection.

AID REACHES RIGHT INTO THE HIGHLANDER HAMLETS OF BINH-LONG PROVINCE

More and more areas are being freed from the terrorist Viet Cong, and the V.N. cadre teams and the Free World go deeper among the people. Now many remote highlander hamlets are being supplied with food, medicine and other help. The people show their gratitude by helping the Government and the Army, providing information about the V.C., and, when they meet people who have gone astray, calling on them to rally under the Chieu Hoi programme.

The U.S. civic-action medical team (MEDICAB) of the 1st Infantry Division treats the teeth of hundreds of people a day. Many people, like this Highlander, have never met a dentist.

The civic-action medical team also gives clothes, soap, medicine and toothbrushes, and teaches the children to brush their teeth.

Cadres of the Highlander Affairs Service and the Social Welfare Service are distributing rice, bath powder, cooking oil and other foods. All V.N. service offices are cooperating to help the people, not only in the large provinces but also in remote villages that have just escaped the V.C.'s claws.

Many illnesses are cured easily thanks to skilled doctors and modern medicine. This Highlander child has impetigo, but one injection can cure him within one or two days.

Because of the lack of water, many Highlander children cannot bathe daily and so fall ill, especially with scabies and sores. This V.N. soldier is bathing the little ones, then the doctors of the civic-action medical team will examine or treat them.

COOPERATE IN WIPING OUT THE TERRORIST VIET CONG BY GIVING INFORMATION ABOUT THE VIET CONG TO THE GOVERNMENT. CALL ON YOUR RELATIVES AND FRIENDS IN THE VIET CONG RANKS TO RETURN TO THE GOVERNMENT SO THAT PEACE MAY SOON BE RESTORED.
