# "Atdheu e mbron i gjithë populli": mural of armed figures on an apartment block, 1978

A large painted panel on the blank end wall of a five-storey block of flats: four figures in caps, three with rifles slung or held and one a woman, packed shoulder to shoulder in red-orange outline against a pale blue ground, above a band of large red capitals reading ATDHE... The panel presents the defence of the country as the shared task of the whole population, men and women alike.

## Text on the object

Original (Albanian) · read from the image, not independently checked

```
ATDHE[U]
E MBRON I GJITHE POPULL[I]
```

English translation (machine translation by Claude, not verified by a fluent reader)

```
[The] homeland
[is] defended by the whole people
```

Read from the committed 667 px image, which is soft. The final letters of both lines are hidden by foliage, so [U] and [I] are supplied from the visible stems and the sense of the phrase; the translation follows the supplied reading and is the least certain of the three transcriptions in this batch.
