# Anba' Moussawarah (Pictorial News) No. 17/54: News in Pictures (illustrated news sheet distributed in Beirut)

A two-page photo spread headed 'News in Pictures' with seven captioned pictures: paratroopers in Indochina before the Geneva meeting, U.S. helicopters rescuing a Swedish ship's crew off Casablanca, the launch of the largest oil tanker, a NATO officers' children's school near Paris, an Oklahoma newspaper delivered by air, and an X-ray machine under 'Atomic Energy for Peace'. The tell is card-stacking: the selected subjects favour U.S. rescue, industry, science and alliance activity.

INDOCHINESE AND FRENCH UNION FORCES parachute into battle in Indochina. As war reaches critical stage, nations prepare for meeting at Geneva that can possible end the fighting (see Page 6).

U.S. HELICOPTERS RESCUE crew members from the Swedish cargo ship "Dalsland" stranded off shore at Casablanca. Here, one of the helicopters hovers over the beach after bringing several crew members to safety.

WORLD'S LARGEST OIL TANKER is launched in the United States. The vessel has a capacity of 16,500,000 gallons — nearly 63 million liters — and is equal to the capacity of 2,000 big railroad tankcars. Ship was christened "World Glory."

VILLAGE SCHOOL FOR NATO CHILDREN is inaugurated near Paris. The children dressed in their native costumes are sons and daughters of officers of SHAPE, military arm of NATO. Represented are several regions of France, Greece, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, and others.

NEWSPAPER DELIVERED BY AIR in the U.S. State of Oklahoma speeds the days' news to readers in small towns and rural areas.

ATOMIC ENERGY FOR PEACE is fast being developed in the United States. This new X-ray machine (right) operated by radioactive thulium, weighs less than five kilograms, yet provides rays equal to a 100,000 volt X-ray machine. Bone structure of human hand is X-rayed by the new instrument (above).
