# And the Town Goes Round and Round

A large smiling figure in colonial dress, wearing a hat marked PHILADELPHIA and carrying a sign reading F.D.R., spins at the centre of a whirl of marching drummers, a cowboy, a donkey and a dancer, ringed by vignettes of convention figures with captions. The figure of Philadelphia stands in for the host city and borrows colonial-era imagery for a party convention; the fit with the technique is weak, as the cartoon is chiefly a light, descriptive convention-week feature.
