# Arirang Mass Games: Sangmo nori ribbon-hat dance, May Day Stadium, Pyongyang (photographed 2008)

A photograph from the Arirang Mass Games, May Day Stadium, Pyongyang, 26 September 2008: dancers in green jackets and red caps whirl long white ribbons from their hats in the sangmo nori folk dance. No slogan or portrait appears; the tell is the format. Folk tradition is staged as mass choreography in which individuals move as one body, the same identity-fusion device the spectacle uses elsewhere with leader portraits and the flag.
