# Binh Long Province Develops Its Rural Life

A landscape sheet headed 'Binh Long develops the countryside' has a paragraph saying the people now work with the government on pacification and rural construction, with four photographs of a reading room, a highland school, a seed distribution and a steel bridge. Each caption gives a cost in piastres and a date between March and May 1966. The tell is the claim that the pictures 'speak for themselves', paired with figures and dates chosen by the issuer.

The people of Binh-Long are now enthusiastically cooperating with the government in all work of pacifying the country and building the countryside. In turn the government always helps with technique and means to develop a new life.
These rural construction pictures speak for themselves of the concrete results that the people and the government achieved in the record period from 1 March to 31-5-1966 in Binh-Long. The projects carried out in this period are the building of schools, reading rooms, bridges, a market, dispensaries and the distribution of seed to the people for planting.

The reading room at Chon-Thanh district office is 1 of 11 rooms made by the government and people in cooperation, with books and papers supplied by the U.S. Joint Information Agency.

This is a school for highland people, 1 of 6 classrooms completed in the second quarter of 1966, costing 420,000 piastres, and it will take in 362 pupils in the coming school year.

Farmers of Hung-Chien hamlet, Tan-Lap-Phu village, listening to the Lieutenant Colonel Province Chief give instructions at the ceremony distributing crop seed on 9 May 1966.
