# Tái chiếm vùng Bù-Na xã Tân-Thuận Phước-Long (Bu Na Area Reoccupied)

A Vietnamese-language photo sheet (code SP-1929) says that after a helicopter-borne operation on 2 April 1967 drove out the Viet Cong at Bu Na, Phuoc Long, 244 families (1,158 ethnic-minority villagers) were freed and now live safely under the national government. Photographs show relief goods unloaded, an official handing out gifts and villagers building houses with government-supplied roofing. One unnamed villager is quoted as preferring the new life to living underground with the Viet Cong. A single anonymous quote and a run of aid scenes carry the argument.

BU NA AREA RECAPTURED, TAN-THUAN VILLAGE, PHUOC-LONG

Liberated 244 families comprising 1,158 lowland and highland compatriots from the Viet Cong's grip, to live in peace and happiness under the protection of the national government and the army of the Republic of Vietnam.

On 2-4-1967 the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam and the Allies launched a helicopter-borne operation into the Bu Na area and drove out the vicious Viet Cong; right after that the lowland and highland compatriots came out to take refuge from the Communists, and before camps and houses were set up, they had to shelter under the shade of trees. One compatriot said: "It is better than living with the Viet Cong, who make us live permanently in tunnels, hungry, in rags, sick without medicine."

Gifts such as rice, salt, medicine, clothing... were promptly transported to help the compatriots.

The Phuoc-Long provincial government and Don-Luan district sent officials from various branches and supplied corrugated iron to Bu Na to help the compatriots build houses.

Mr. Tran-Phu, Head of the Communist Refugee Service, came to Bu Na to distribute gifts to the compatriots. A highland compatriot receives a blanket.

Housing is now available and bellies are full; the compatriots have set to work building pens for livestock such as pigs and chickens to build a warm, well-fed, happy life in the National zone.
