# The Chappaqua farmer

Equestrian campaign portrait of Horace Greeley, lithographed by D. Chalmers of Springfield, Mass., after a painting by Samuel J. Chapman and registered for copyright in July 1872. Greeley rides toward a bridge marked 'One Term'; his dogs are labelled 'Reform' and 'Democracy'; the margins read 'Honesty in Government', 'Equal Rights to all Men', 'No gifts received for Office' and 'No place reserved for poor relations'.
