# Cung chúc Tân Xuân (Happy New Spring) Tet greeting leaflet

A small cream-coloured leaflet under a large script headline 'Happy New Spring' wishes rural readers long life, but its body text lists acts it attributes to 'Cộng-phỉ' (Communist bandits): cutting roads, laying mines, throwing grenades, kidnapping and killing civilians. The tell: a festive greeting format carries an accusation, and the opponent is named by a label ('bọn Cộng-phỉ') rather than by name.

```
Cung Chúc
Tân Xuân
Xuân lại về với quê-hương và dân-tộc. Nhưng đồng-bào ta ở nông thôn đâu có được yên-ổn để thưởng Xuân. Bọn Cộng-phỉ vẫn tiếp tục phá-rối nếp sống yên lành của đồng bào. Chúng vẫn phá đường, gài mìn, ném lựu đạn, bắt cóc, ám-sát thường dân vô tội và lừa đồng bào đi làm bia đỡ đạn cho chúng đánh-phá các ấp Tân-Sinh.
Đồng-bào hãy mạnh dạn đứng lên đòi bọn Cộng-phỉ chấm dứt những hành-động khủng-bố của chúng để hòa-bình trở lại ở nông-thôn và đồng bào được yên ổn đi lại thăm viếng trong những ngày TẾT.
CHÚC ĐỒNG BÀO TRƯỜNG THỌ
Respectful Wishes
for the New Spring
Spring returns to the homeland and the nation. But our compatriots in the countryside do not have peace in which to enjoy Spring. The Communist bandits keep disturbing the peaceful way of life of the people. They keep destroying roads, laying mines, throwing grenades, kidnapping, assassinating innocent civilians, and tricking the people into serving as shields against bullets for them as they attack the Tan-Sinh hamlets.
Compatriots, boldly stand up and demand that the Communist bandits end their terrorist acts, so that peace returns to the countryside and the people can travel and visit in peace during the days of TET.
WISHING THE COMPATRIOTS LONG LIFE
