# Deutsche Zeitung, "Rache!" (Revenge!), morning edition, 28 June 1919

Front page of a Berlin nationalist daily on the day the Treaty of Versailles was signed. A single-word headline, "Rache!", sits over a lead that sets the 1871 imperial proclamation at Versailles against the day's signing, repeats "Vergiß es ihnen nicht!" (Do not forget it to them) and ends on a second headline promising revenge for "the disgrace of 1919".

Rache!

Deutsches Volk!

Revenge!

German people! Today the shameful peace is being signed in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. Do not forget it to them!
Where in the glorious year 1871 the German Empire arose in its old splendour, German honour is being carried to the grave today. Do not forget it to them!
In restless labour the German people will work its way up again, to win back the place among the nations that is due to it!

Then revenge for the disgrace of 1919!

[column headings: Michel, wake up! / The Prussian troops in Leipzig and the shameful peace. / A declaration of the officer corps.] [Body columns not transcribed.]
