A giant, dark-faced soldier in a steel helmet with a fixed bayonet looms out of smoke over a Rhine valley of castle, vineyards and church spires, with a single word above him, 'LOCARNO?'. The caricature gives the French colonial soldier a mask-like face and glaring eyes, so a treaty question is answered with a menacing racial figure, and the only remedy printed is a vote for the DNVP.
