# "General Antonio Maceo, the Hero of Peralejo" (Sahm & Co., New York, 1898)

General Maceo on horseback waves a sword and breaks through a wooden barrier at the head of a charge of the Cuban Liberation Army toward gunfire, with a Cuban flag at the left; the title is given in English and Spanish. The tell: the leader is the whole picture, mounted and ahead of his men, with the enemy only a line of smoke.

A chromolithograph copyrighted in 1898 by Sahm & Co. of New York, sold commercially in the United States during the Spanish-American War, and a U.S. print about a Cuban commander, not an item issued by the Cuban independence movement. General Maceo on horseback waves a sword and breaks through a wooden barrier at the head of a Cuban Liberation Army charge toward gunfire, with a Cuban flag at left, and the title is given in English and Spanish. Appeal to emotion rests on the leader being the whole picture, with the enemy only a line of smoke.
