# General Assembly

GENERAL ASSEMBLY meets annually and also in special session at the request of the Security Council, or of a majority of the members. Each member has one vote and may not have more than five representatives. It annually elects a President and 7 Vice-presidents.
VOTING PROCEDURE: On important questions it is by a 2/3 majority of members present and voting. Such questions are: recommendations on maintenance of international peace and security; elections to Security Council, Economic and Social Council, and Trusteeship Council; admission, expulsion, suspension of rights and privileges of Members; operation of trusteeship system; and budgetary questions.
On other questions (including the determination of additional categories of questions to be decided by 2/3 majority) voting is by a simple majority of members present and voting.
