# George Washington poster, 48: Father of the Nation (Nepali poster distributed in Asia)

A Nepali-language biographical poster on George Washington, 1732 to 1799, titled 'Father of the Nation'. A large drawing shows him on horseback above five smaller scenes: surveying at sixteen, command of the colonial army in 1775, victory over the British with French help in 1781, election as first president, and retirement to Mount Vernon. A closing line calls him first in war, first in peace and first in the hearts of his countrymen. The tell is glittering-generalities.

```
George Washington
"Father of the Nation"
Born 1732, died 1799.
First President of the United States of America.
When the American colonies began the war of independence against British rule in 1775, Washington was made commander of the colonies' army.
George Washington was born on a tobacco farm. At the age of sixteen he became a surveyor.
In the end, with the help of the French, in 1781 Washington was able to defeat the main British army, and thus was victorious in freeing the American colonies.
When the new government of the United States was formed, he was made the first President.
After serving the country as President for eight years, Washington retired to his farm called 'Mount Vernon'. 'Mount Vernon' is still preserved in the United States as a national shrine.
It is said that George Washington was a great man, 'leader in war, pioneer of peace and first in the hearts of his countrymen'.
