"Twelve Zeros jumped the B-24 over Wewak, attacking from all sides. The Jap pilots took advantage of cloud cover... closed in...suddenly attacked through open spots, but could not escape the waist gunners. The Liberator destroyed six of the enemy, returning safely with one engine out and 64 bullet holes."
