## Text on the object

Original (English) · read from the image, not independently checked

```
"North of Naples the B-26 was attacked by 30 Messerschmitt fighters... 8 came up under the tail... were driven off... the Marauder dropped its bombs...sent 3 enemy planes down. More Nazis roared in. With hits by 20 mm. shells, its right stabilizer damaged, ammunition running low, the B-26 held off the enemy until fighter protection arrived, and flew proudly home."
