CHIẾN THẮNG LỚN TẠI VĨNH-LONG

Sáng ngày 5-7-66, Tiểu Khu Vĩnh-Long mở cuộc hành quân NGÔ-QUYỀN 63 với sự yểm trợ của Bộ Tư Lệnh Khu 41 Chiến Thuật bằng cuộc hành quân Long-Phi 977, tảo thanh Việt-Cộng tại vùng 13 cây số tây nam Tỉnh lỵ Vĩnh-Long đã triệt hạ Tiểu Đoàn 857 Cơ Động Việt-Cộng tỉnh Vĩnh-Long và tịch thu được nhiều vũ khí và đạn dược.

Trực thăng vận là phương tiện giúp bộ binh hoàn thành nhiệm vụ diệt địch mau chóng và hữu hiệu.

Chuẩn Tướng Lâm-quang-Thi, Tư Lệnh sư đoàn 9 Bộ Binh kiêm khu 41 Chiến Thuật và Trung Tá Huỳnh-ngọc-Diệp, Tỉnh Trưởng kiêm Tiểu khu trưởng Vĩnh-Long đã đích thân ra mặt trận trực tiếp chỉ huy cuộc hành quân.

GREAT VICTORY AT VINH LONG

On the morning of 5-7-66 [5 July 1966], Vinh Long Sub-Sector launched Operation NGO QUYEN 63, supported by the 41st Tactical Zone Command's Operation Long Phi 977, to sweep the Viet Cong from an area 13 kilometres south-west of Vinh Long town. It destroyed the Viet Cong Vinh Long Provincial Mobile 857th Battalion and seized many weapons and much ammunition.

The helicopter lift is the means that helps the infantry complete its mission of destroying the enemy quickly and effectively.

Brigadier General Lam Quang Thi, Commander of the 9th Infantry Division and of the 41st Tactical Zone, and Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Ngoc Diep, Province Chief and Vinh Long Sub-Sector Commander, went to the front in person to command the operation directly.

While the soldiers were clearing the battlefield, the Brigadier General commanding the 41st Tactical Zone and the Lieutenant Colonel Province Chief of Vinh Long came to the front itself to receive and praise the meritorious soldiers.
