# Independence Day: United in Freedom (English poster distributed in Asia)

A two-panel poster pairs the Liberty Bell and its Leviticus inscription with the Rizal Monument in Manila and the Philippine flag, under the banner 'United in Freedom' and the date July 4, 1955. The tell is transfer: each country's founding symbol is set beside the other's and labelled 'Symbols of Democracy', and the shared word 'freedom' carries the link.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Liberty Bell

UNITED IN FREEDOM

The Liberty Bell, famed relic of the American War for Independence rests in a permanent shrine at the foot of the Bell Tower in Independence Hall, Philadelphia where it hung for many years. People from all over the United States come to see the Bell and read its inscription.
"Proclaim Liberty Throughout The Land Unto All The Inhabitants Thereof"
-- from the Twenty-fifth Chapter of the Old Testament of Leviticus

The Rizal Monument

On December 30, 1896, Jose Rizal was shot on Bagumbayan Field, now called the Luneta. He died a martyr to the cause of liberty. His martyrdom became the battlecry for freedom. A monument was dedicated and erected by popular subscription on December 30, 1913. The plaque bears the following inscription:
"To the Memory of Jose Rizal Patriot and Martyr Executed on Bagumbayan Field, December Thirtieth, 1896. This Monument is Dedicated by the People of the Philippine Islands."

"We struggle, not for ourselves but for our country, for justice, for liberty, for the sacred rights of mankind."
Rizal.
