# Join the Fighting Men of the U.S. Merchant Marine

Recruiting sheet for the U.S. Maritime Service: a photograph of ranks of apprentice seamen at Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, beside a panel offering advancement and a trade. The technique is word and crowd: 'fighting men' and 'heroic job' are virtue words, and the massed ranks show many already enrolled.
