# "강성대국을 향하여!": roadside slogan board (photographed 2011)

A long roadside board in a wooded area carries a gold panel with the slogan 'Toward a strong and prosperous nation!', a red headline above it, a panel of three helmeted soldiers, and smaller text panels beneath. The upper headline invokes the anti-Japanese guerrilla struggle as the model for mind, study and life. The tell is transfer: the guerrilla-era past is used to dignify a present-day goal, 'strong and prosperous nation', that is named but not defined.

## Text on the object

Original (Korean) · read from the image, not independently checked

```
[gold panel:] 강성대국을 향하여!
[red headline above:] 정신도 학습도 생활도 항일유격대식으로!
[smaller panels:] [not legible]
```

English translation (machine translation by Claude, not verified by a fluent reader)

```
[gold panel:] Toward a strong and prosperous nation!
[red headline above:] In mind, in study, in life, the anti-Japanese guerrilla way!
[smaller panels:] [not legible]
```

The large slogans are legible in the 960 px preview; the small panel text is not and is not guessed. The red headline on the left-hand section is not transcribed. Translation by machine, not verified by a fluent reader.
