# Kievlyanin (Kiev), front page, 28 October 1917, with V. Shulgin's editorial and the 'List No. 8' election appeal

Front page three days after the Petrograd Bolshevik seizure of power, from the Kiev paper of the Russian nationalist V. V. Shulgin. The leader, signed Shulgin, calls Lenin's action a 'mutiny' ('myatezh') and Petrograd a 'German nest', and demands subordination of the Ukrainian General Secretariat to the Provisional Government; the page head also carries paid ads for the nationalist bloc's 'List No. 8' Constituent Assembly campaign. Tells: the loaded labels carry the argument; the paper is both reporter and candidate-list advertiser.
