# Margie poster SP no. 3

Colour poster in the 'Margie' series of letters to soldiers: a woman in a yellow print dress sits on the arm of a green armchair holding a pipe, with a pair of slippers on the floor. A handwritten note signed 'Margie' urges the reader to save pay, with a printed checklist of soldiers' deposits, transfer accounts, allotments, War Bonds and insurance. The tell is the girl-at-home voice (plain-folks), with homecoming scenes attached to saving (transfer).

## Text on the object

Original (English) · read from the image, not independently checked

```
SOLDIERS' DEPOSITS
PERSONAL TRANSFER ACCOUNT
CLASS E ALLOTMENTS OF PAY
WAR BONDS
NATIONAL SERVICE LIFE INSURANCE
your pipe and slippers
waiting, your own big,
comfortable easy chair
. . . . . Is that what
you're dreaming of?
Well, soldier, save
every pay day so you'll
be all set to make
those dreams come true
when you get home,
for that's what we
gals are saving for
and dreaming of, too.
Love,
Margie
