# Margie poster SP no. 5

Colour poster in the 'Margie' series of letters to soldiers: a woman in overalls and a striped blouse, resting her head on one hand, reads a note beside a lunch pail. A handwritten note signed 'Margie' urges the reader to save pay, with a printed checklist of soldiers' deposits, transfer accounts, allotments, War Bonds and insurance. The tell is the girl-at-home voice (plain-folks), with homecoming scenes attached to saving (transfer).

## Text on the object

```
SOLDIERS' DEPOSITS
PERSONAL TRANSFER ACCOUNT
CLASS E ALLOTMENTS OF PAY
WAR BONDS
NATIONAL SERVICE LIFE INSURANCE
and we gals can hardly
wait to swap our
overalls for aprons
when you come home.
Of course it may
take a little time
for us to get settled
down, but the money
you put aside now
from each pay will
speed the day.
Love,
Margie
