# 民報 Min Bao no. 1 (Tokyo, 26 Nov 1905): plate of the Yellow Emperor, 'the world's foremost great man of nationalism'

Frontispiece plate in the first issue of the Tongmenghui organ Min Bao: an oval portrait of the legendary Yellow Emperor (Huangdi) captioned 世界第一之民族主義大偉人黃帝, with 中國民族開國之始祖 beneath. The tell: the prestige of a founding ancestor is attached, by caption, to the paper's own programme of nationalism; the contents page pairs it with plates of Rousseau, Washington and Mozi.
