GLORIOUS VICTORY AT NGHIA-HANH, QUANG-NGAI

On 3-9-1964 a main-force Viet Cong battalion used human-wave tactics to attack the hamlets of An-Dinh, Dong-Truc-Lam and An-Hoa, in the two villages of Nghia-Loc and Nghia-Khuong, Nghia-Hanh district, to destroy and plunder the people's property. The Civil Guard forces and the commando people heroically fought back and held them until our reinforcements arrived; the enemy was tightly encircled and completely destroyed. In particular the people spontaneously supplied our fighters and cooperated with the soldiers to destroy the Communists.

Spoils of war we seized in the Nghia-Hanh battle.

Local-force corporal Dinh-Rot, the hero who captured the Viet Cong's SKZ 57 gun.

The armoured-vehicle soldiers who took part in the Nghia-Hanh battle.

Compatriots warmly welcome the soldiers who bravely won the Nghia-Hanh battle.

Two Viet Cong captured alive in the Nghia-Hanh victory.

The Nghia-Hanh victory proves the heroic spirit and rapid growth of the Civil Guard, the Local Force and the commando people of Quang-Ngai, as well as the courage of comrades of Battle Group 145 and the armoured-vehicle soldiers, and clearly shows the bond between army and people across the country, determined to wipe out the Communist bandits.

RESULT: We seized 22 weapons of various kinds: 3 light machine guns 24 x 29, 1 K-50, 5 MAT 49, 5 MAS 36, 5 carbines, 1 Russian rifle, 1 57 mm recoilless gun, 1 Remington, and many uniforms, equipment and important documents.
ENEMY LOSSES: 79 dead left on the field, 2 captured alive, among them an artillery sergeant.

Officers and soldiers with merit rewarded in the Nghia-Hanh battle.

The major, Quang-Ngai province chief, pinning medals on the soldiers with merit in the Nghia-Hanh battle.
