# Opera Nazionale Balilla school report cover, Ministero Educazione Nazionale (Italy, 1932)

Dark-green cover of a pupil's report card (pagella): a tapering stack of white and black vertical bars studded with axe-blades forms a stepped pyramid or fasces-like tower above the printed words MINISTERO EDVCAZIONE NAZIONALE and OP. NAZ. 'BALILLA'. A circular office stamp is partly visible at lower left and a small designer's mark at lower right. The tell: the state's own school stationery carries the fasces as a modernist monument, so the first document a six-year-old brings home already pairs the school with the party's emblem.
