# Opera Balilla school report cover, Anno XIII, Ministero Educazione Nazionale (Italy, 1934 to 1935)

Maroon-on-buff cover of a pupil's report card (pagella). The title 'Opera Balilla' runs vertically up the left edge with the era number XIII; two parallelogram banners, each bearing a stylised eagle, are carried on poles topped by fixed bayonets, and a heavy block below reads MINISTERO EDUCAZIONE NAZIONALE. A handwritten price or number ('L. 1.') is visible at top right. The tell: the document every child brings home is dressed in the visual language of standards and bayonets, so schooling and the youth organisation's military styling are one object.
