# Operation Brotherhood poster, sheet 1 of 4 (English poster distributed in Manila)

Sheet 1 of a four-sheet set on Operation Brotherhood, a Philippine volunteer medical aid project in South Vietnam. A drawn nurse treats a woman holding a child, beside a crowd photograph and a photograph of two nurses at a sickbed. The text says the project has aided over 200,000 civilians in six months and cites its reputation as 'one of the greatest voluntary international aid programs in history'. The tell is glittering generalities and numbers of countries and people.

OPERATION BROTHERHOOD

Operation Brotherhood, an international assistance project for civilians and refugees in South Vietnam, has earned the reputation of being ''one of the greatest voluntary international aid programs in history.'' Initiated by the Philippine Jaycees in August, 1954, and sponsored by Junior Chamber International in 60 countries all over the world, Operation Brotherhood has ''opened an entire new area of partnership between the free countries of Asia.'' Through volunteer medical teams from the Philippines, and financial and material contributions from Jaycee organizations in other free countries, this voluntary aid program has given assistance to more than 200,000 sick and impoverished civilians in South Vietnam over a period of six months.

Large crowds of villagers, such as this one in Long Xuyen, Central Vietnam, invariably turn out to welcome the Filipino JC teams wherever they go to extend a helping hand.

Filipino volunteer nurses, like Flor Pecua (left) and Fe Arcadio (right) attend to the sick in JC-manned hospitals.
