# Pictorial Review, Volume II, Number 1: arrival of US T-33 jets at Debre Zeit (Amharic-English poster distributed in Addis Ababa)

A bilingual Amharic-English picture-sheet on the arrival of three US T-33 jet trainers at the Haile Selassie I Air Force Training Center, Debre Zeit. Photographs show the aircraft on the apron, a US colonel congratulating a pilot, US and Ethiopian officers and an official standing together, and Ethiopian cadets talking with a US captain. The text quotes an Ethiopian general calling the delivery 'a milestone'. The tell is testimonial: an Ethiopian officer's praise of the US-supplied jets is quoted.

PICTORIAL REVIEW

Volume II Number 1

Ethiopia, in the words of Brigadier General Assefa Ayene, Deputy Commander of the I.E.A.F., has reached "a milestone in the development of our Air Force" with the arrival of three United States jet airplanes at the Haile Selassie I Air Force Training Center in Debre Zeit. The jets -- 1958 model T-33's--came off the California assembly line, were sent by ship to Italy, and then flown directly to Ethiopia. The jet aircraft were provided under the United States Military Assistance program for Ethiopia. These pictures show the arrival of the U. S. jets at Debre Zeit.

The three T-33's are shown following their arrival at Debre Zeit.
