# Pictorial Review, Volume II, Number 2: T-33 jets at Debre Zeit (Amharic-English poster distributed in Addis Ababa)

A bilingual Amharic-English picture-sheet on the Emperor's visit to the Haile Selassie I Air Force Training Center at Debre Zeit to see T-33 jet trainers delivered by the United States. Photographs show US Air Force instructors with Ethiopian officers, the Emperor at a cockpit and at training equipment, and a six-frame sequence of the Crown Prince boarding a T-33. The tell is transfer: the Emperor's presence is attached to US-supplied aircraft and training under the MAAG programme.

PICTORIAL REVIEW

Volume II Number 2

Major Newmeyer adjusts the oxygen mask for General Assefa just before the general took his first T-33 flight.
General Assefa gives His Imperial Majesty a graphic account of his flight in a T-33.
His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I, inspects the new T-33's. Col. Robert L. Ramsey, left, Chief of the MAAG Air Force section, is explaining the control system to His Majesty.

His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I, accompanied by members of the Imperial Family, ministers, high-ranking officers and other dignitaries, visited the Haile Selassie I Air Force Training Center at Debre Zeit to watch a demonstration of new jet airplanes delivered to Ethiopia by the United States government. The T-33's were flown by United States Air Force pilots. In the first demonstration, Brigadier General Assefa Ayene, Deputy Commander of the Imperial Air Force, accompanied the pilot. The second flight was made when His Imperial Highness, Prince Sahle Selassie, indicated his interest in flying in one of the T-33's. These pictures show scenes during His Majesty's visit to the Center.

His Imperial Majesty listens as a U. S. Air Force instructor explains operation of the mobile training equipment furnished under the MAAG program.
In this series of pictures, His Imperial Highness, Prince Sahle Selassie, is shown disembarking from a T-33.
