# Pictures in the News poster, No. 6 (English poster distributed in Beirut)

A two-page news sheet in English carrying photographs with captions: African journalists at the New York Times, women delegates at the UN, a television interview about emerging African states, and Tunisian and U.S. Army engineers replacing a flood-destroyed rail bridge. The tell is transfer: the standing of the Times, the UN and a joint engineering job is attached to the U.S. as host and partner, in captions that are selected and presented as news.

JOURNALISTS VISIT U.S. NEWSPAPER

Tunisian and U.S. Engineers Replace Vital Rail Bridge

Working together, engineers of Tunisia and the United States Army quickly erected a temporary railroad bridge at Khledia. A flood destroyed the old one. The speedy reconstruction enabled the Tunisian railroad to resume hauling iron ore - an important export - to La Goulette. Loss of the rail line would have been a damaging blow to the country's economy. The new span will serve until a permanent bridge is built.
