# Portugal e a Gran Bretanha apertam as suas mãos de antigos aliados (Portugal and Great Britain Clasp Hands, Old Allies)

A colour postcard in which a British and a Portuguese soldier in pith helmets shake hands between massed Union Jacks on the left and a large Portuguese flag on the right, under portrait medallions of George V and, on the Portuguese side, a white-moustached civilian identified by Commons as President Bernardino Machado, either side of the two coats of arms. The tell is the stacking of royal arms, flags and heads of state around the handshake, which lends the ancient Anglo-Portuguese alliance's prestige to Portugal's war effort.
