# A Weak Ticket in the Field and a Weaker Expected (Puck cover, 16 June 1880)

Puck cover by J. A. Wales (16 June 1880, vol. 7, p. 257). Left panel: Garfield and Arthur standing on pedestals labelled 'Troublesome Record' and 'Peculiar Record'. Right panel: Samuel J. Tilden and David Davis, speculated Democratic names before the Cincinnati convention, on pedestals labelled 'Slippery Record' and 'Mixed Record'. The caption asks what may be expected of the Democrats if the Republicans 'have done feebly'. Both sides receive a label; the Democratic nominees were not yet chosen.
