# Where Both Platforms Agree: No Vote, No Use to Either Party (Puck cover, 14 July 1880)

Puck cover by J. A. Wales (14 July 1880, vol. 7, no. 175), the source of this record's 'Chinese Americans' file. Garfield and Hancock, in shirtsleeves, hammer a board lettered 'Anti-Chinese' ('Republican Plank', 'Democratic Plank') around a Chinese man drawn in period racial caricature. The caption says the planks leave the man with 'no vote' and of 'no use to either party'. The cartoon's target is both parties' platforms; the central figure is the group both platforms addressed.
