# President Putin's televised address after the Beslan school siege (Moscow, 4 September 2004)

Vladimir Putin, in a dark suit and tie, looks straight into the camera against dark panelling, with a Russian tricolour at the right edge of the frame. The tell is the address itself, whose headline sentence describes the attacks as 'direct intervention of international terror against Russia' and 'a total, cruel, full-scale war', asking viewers to mobilise 'in the face of this common danger'.
