# 재건되는 한국의 방직공장 (Reconstructing a Korean Textile Plant) (Korean poster distributed in Korea)

A Korean-language photo poster on green and black. A cut-out of twisted wreckage sits beside the headline, with five photographs of Korean workers and a foreign technician, a factory and its chimneys, and captions. The text says the plant was destroyed in August 1950 and is being rebuilt with Korean private capital and outside aid. The tell is plain-folks: named, ordinary workers and managers carry the message of recovery.

```
Reconstructing Korea's Textile Plant. In May 1950 Korea's largest textile plant, with 6,000 workers, produced 3,000,000 [yards] of cotton cloth a month. In August of the same year the plant was destroyed by bombing and only the power plant was left. The photographs below show the progress of the plant's reconstruction, which is succeeding thanks to Korean private capital, zeal for construction and the aid of 'C.A.C.' When the plant operates, 'C.A.C.' will supply the cotton. [Captions:] Mr. 'Kim Ok-sun' [reading uncertain], the former manager of the destroyed plant, and Mr. Taylor, 'C.A.C.' textile specialist, look at the design of the plant to be rebuilt. / Men and women workers eagerly clear the destroyed plant and sort parts salvaged from the fire. / This power plant will be the centre of the new plant zone, and completion of the reconstruction plan will show a new stage of Korean industry. / Korean technicians with many years of textile experience carefully install the heavy 'rollers' that compress the cloth. / Adjusting the 'spindles' on the spindle line; the man looking on at left is Mr. 'Taylor'. By March of this year it will be running with a thousand workers and more than 10,000 spindles. USIS P. 13
