# The Republican Platform, or the Political Mountebank

Anti-Grant cartoon. Grant balances on a rail held by a kneeling Black man and Horace Greeley, steadying himself with a pole marked 'U.S. Treasury' that spills paper toward a soldier, sailor and widow on one side and gold toward wealthy men on the other; Grant says 'Let us have Peace.' Library of Congress reads it as charging Grant with favouring bondholders over veterans.
