# Revolutionary Development in Vinh Long

A horizontal photo-sheet (code SP-1363) reports the agricultural and fruit-growing exhibition opened on 11 July 1966 at the Vinh Long provincial girls' school, with photographs of giant cassava roots, farm machinery, a tall sugar cane and the province chief, Lt. Col. Huynh-ngoc-Diep, examining fruit. It says over 20,000 people came and that the exhibition was a success. TRIỂN LÃM NÔNG SÚC SẢN VÀ ĐẤU XẢO TRÁI CÂY TẠI VĨNH-LONG

Cuộc triển lãm Nông Súc Sản và đấu xảo trái cây do ty Nông Vụ Vĩnh-Long tổ chức khai mạc vào sáng ngày 11-7-66 tại trường Nữ tỉnh lỵ Vĩnh-Long, nhằm mục đích khuyến khích các nông gia cải tiến phương pháp canh tác ruộng vườn và chăn nuôi gia súc để cải thiện hữu hiệu đời sống nông thôn, góp phần xây dựng và phục hưng nền kinh tế Quốc Gia.
Cuộc triển lãm và đấu xảo đã thành công rực rỡ nhờ sự hướng dẫn nồng nhiệt của các nông gia trong tỉnh với đủ loại trái cây, gia súc, hoa kiểng v.v...

Các phòng triển lãm được trưng bày nhiều loại trái cây, gia súc, ngũ cốc xuất sắc về phẩm lẫn lượng cho trên 20.000 đồng bào đến xem.

Ông Trần-văn-Hải, một nông dân xã Bình-Thành-Tây, quận Lấp-Vò cũng gởi đến tham dự cuộc triển lãm 1 máy cày, 1 máy cắt cỏ, và một máy bơm nước do Ông chế tạo rất giản dị với động cơ KOHLER 4 và 7 mã lực, được đồng bào nhiệt liệt hoan nghênh.

Đồng bào quận Lấp-Vò cũng gởi đến đấu xảo một loại mía cao 8 thước, một trong những nông sản xuất sắc nhất của cuộc đấu xảo tại Vĩnh-Long.

Trung Tá Huỳnh-ngọc-Diệp, Tỉnh Trưởng Vĩnh-Long đang xem trưng bày trái cây. Cũng như tất cả đồng bào đi xem, Trung Tá rất hài lòng về cuộc triển lãm này.

The Agricultural and Livestock exhibition and fruit contest, organised by the Vinh-Long Agriculture Service, opened on the morning of 11-7-66 at the Vinh-Long provincial girls' school, with the aim of encouraging farmers to improve methods of cultivating fields and gardens and raising livestock in order to effectively improve rural life and contribute to building and reviving the national economy.
The exhibition and contest were a brilliant success thanks to the warm guidance of farmers in the province, with all kinds of fruit, livestock, flowers and ornamental plants, etc.

The exhibition rooms displayed many kinds of fruit, livestock and grain outstanding in quality and quantity for over 20,000 people who came to see them.

Mr. Tran-van-Hai, a farmer of Binh-Thanh-Tay village, Lap-Vo district, also sent to the exhibition a plough, a grass cutter and a water pump he built very simply, with KOHLER 4 and 7 horsepower engines, warmly welcomed by the people.

The people of Lap-Vo district also sent to the contest a kind of sugar cane 8 metres tall, one of the most outstanding farm products of the contest in Vinh-Long.
