# Robotnik, front page: Dziś strajk powszechny (Warsaw, 14 May 1926)

Front page of Robotnik, the central organ of the Polish Socialist Party, on 14 May 1926, the third day of Piłsudski's May Coup. Under the banner 'Dziś strajk powszechny' ('General strike today') the party calls the cabinet 'Rząd reakcyjny Witosa' ('Witos's reactionary government') and 'kata ludu krakowskiego' ('executioner of the Kraków people'), and assigns all responsibility for the dead to that government and the President.

Dziś strajk powszechny

Polska Partja Socjalistyczna.
Robotnicy!
Robotnicy Warszawy!
Jest jedno tylko wyjście z położenia
NIEZWŁOCZNA DYMISJA RZĄDU WITOSA.
Na szalę wypadków rzucić musicie swój czyn robotniczy.
STRAJK POWSZECHNY.
Strajk powszechny rozpocznie się w piątek, 14 maja i trwać będzie aż do odwołania.
Żądamy ustąpienia Rządu Witosa!
Żądamy zaprzestania walki bratobójczej!
Precz z rządami reakcji!
Niech żyje lud pracujący!
Centr. Kom. Wyk. P. P. S.

Warszawski Okręgowy Komitet Robotniczy P. P. S.
UCHWALIŁ:
Wezwać wszystkich robotników i pracowników miasta Warszawy do powszechnego strajku w dniu 14 b. m. aż do odwołania. Ze strajku wyłączamy wodę, światło, chleb i szpitale.
Niech strajk ten będzie potężnym protestem przeciwko Rządowi Chjeno-Piasta i Wojciechowskiego. [...]

Ludu Pracujący Warszawy!
Pomimo protestów wszystkich uczciwych ludzi w Polsce rząd Witosa, kata ludu krakowskiego, rząd reakcji i rabusiów skarbu państwa, rząd wyzysku mas pracujących znowu ośmielił się sięgnąć po władzę. [...] Niech będzie protestem przeciwko Wojciechowskiemu, który zdradził demokrację polską, stanął po stronie reakcji i zagrzewa do walki z wojskami Józefa Piłsudskiego. [...]

DZIEŃ WCZORAJSZY.

No. 132 (2932). Warsaw, FRIDAY 14 May 1926. Year XXXII.
Long live the workers' and peasants' government! | LONG LIVE SOCIALISM!
ROBOTNIK — CENTRAL ORGAN OF THE P.P.S.
PROLETARIANS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE! Single copy 20 groszy.

General strike today

Polish Socialist Party.
Workers!
The reactionary government of Witos has caused CIVIL WAR. Soldiers' blood, the blood of the civilian population, flows in the streets of the capital. Mr Stanisław Wojciechowski, President of the Republic, together with his ministers, rejected every attempt at agreement. Responsibility for the fratricidal fight falls on the consciences of these men.
Workers of Warsaw!
There is only one way out of the situation
IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION OF THE WITOS GOVERNMENT.
You workers must throw your deed onto the scales of events.
GENERAL STRIKE.
The general strike will begin on Friday, 14 May and will last until revoked.
We demand the resignation of the Witos Government!
We demand an end to the fratricidal fight!
Down with the rule of reaction!
Long live the working people!
Central Executive Committee of the P.P.S.

Warsaw District Workers' Committee of the P.P.S.
RESOLVED:
To call on all workers and employees of the city of Warsaw to a general strike on the 14th of this month until revoked. We exempt water, light, bread and hospitals from the strike.
Let this strike be a mighty protest against the Government of Chjeno-Piast and Wojciechowski. [...]

Working People of Warsaw!
Despite the protests of all honest people in Poland, the Witos government, executioner of the Kraków people, a government of reaction and of robbers of the state treasury, a government of exploitation of the working masses, has again dared to reach for power. [...] Let it be a protest against Wojciechowski, who betrayed Polish democracy, took the side of reaction and urges on the fight against the troops of Józef Piłsudski. [...]

YESTERDAY.
[...] Responsibility for this terrible bloodshed falls on the Witos government, on whose orders the government troops keep provoking clashes. [...]
51 killed and 242 wounded, as reported by police lists that are far from the real, considerably larger, number — let them weigh on the conscience of the President and his Witos government.
THE CAPITAL IN THE HANDS OF PIŁSUDSKI'S TROOPS.
