# Selective Service draft lottery drawing (Washington, 1 December 1969)

On 1 December 1969 the Selective Service System held the draft lottery its 2009 annual report describes: 365 capsules, one for each birth date. Its teachers guide says that lottery set the order in which men would be called, and the Library of Congress names Representative Alexander Pirnie at the bowl and Lieutenant General Lewis B. Hershey beside him.
