# "Señores imperialistas, ¡no les tenemos absolutamente ningún miedo!": Havana billboard, 2002

Painted billboard in Havana with the lettering 'Señores imperialistas, ¡no les tenemos absolutamente ningún miedo!' (Gentlemen imperialists, we are not the least bit afraid of you!), flanked by two cartoons: at left a figure in stars-and-stripes trousers, drawn spluttering and off balance; at right a grinning armed fighter on a palm island. The tell: 'imperialistas' is the whole characterisation of the addressee, and the board shows fear in the opponent and fearlessness in the in-group instead of a claim that could be tested.

## Text on the object

Original (Spanish) · read from the image, not independently checked

```
SEÑORES IMPERIALISTAS
¡NO LES TENEMOS ABSOLUTAMENTE
NINGUN MIEDO!
[lettering above the left-hand figure, partly legible: GRR...]
```

English translation (machine translation by Claude, not verified by a fluent reader)

```
GENTLEMEN IMPERIALISTS
WE ARE NOT THE LEAST BIT
AFRAID OF YOU!
```

Main text printed in red and blue capitals; the accent on the U of NINGUN is not discernible at this resolution. The green lettering by the left-hand figure is partly cut off and reads only as a growl sound effect.
