# "Set-to between the champion Old Tip & the swell Dutchman of Kinderhook", 1836

Boxing-ring cartoon of the 1836 race: Harrison, backed by 'the people', lands a blow on Van Buren, seconded by Jackson and Amos Kendall, 'Office holders & mail Contractors'. Tells: labels for the rival ('Dutchman', 'Cold Blooded Kinderhooker', a racial slur) and a Revolutionary veteran who hails Harrison as 'my old Comrade', lending the war's standing to him.

Read from the 1,536-px master scan; engraved script is clear. The racial slur in the frontiersman's balloon is transcribed as printed. 'Bunged' (not 'banged') is the reading of the 1,280-px image. The street name in the imprint reads 'Cortlandt' (the final letters are small and could be read 'Cortland').
