# Một chiến sĩ trong trận giặc chống nghèo (A Soldier in the War Against Poverty)

A poster (code SP-1436) profiles Ha Van Nam, a Rural Construction cadre team leader in An Giang, as a 'soldier' in a 'war' on hunger, injustice, disease and ignorance, and quotes him saying that victory on the battlefield will be meaningless without a social revolution. Photographs show him building a house and a footbridge with refugees at Vinh Hoa hamlet, which the text says shelters 412 families who fled communism. A footer says 'Today: developing An Giang; tomorrow: all of Vietnam.' The sheet borrows the vocabulary of war for a civil development programme.

A SOLDIER IN THE WAR AGAINST POVERTY

Mr. Ha-Van-Nam, a team leader in the Rural Construction Cadre group in An-Giang, is a soldier in the "War" against hunger, injustice, disease and ignorance. In this war, Mr. Nam knows his enemy well. Coming from a landless farming family, he has tasted poverty all his life. From his own experience he often says: "If the Vietnamese people together with the friendly Allied countries do not carry out a social revolution, victory on the battlefield will become meaningless."
Mr. Nam graduated from a special training course at Vung Tau and also served 15 months in political cadre teams. He now serves in the Vinh Hoa refugee hamlet in An Giang province under the revolutionary development programme, helping 412 families who fled Communism. Besides Government help in money, rice and land, the refugees still need many things in order to live. These are a few of the jobs that Mr. Nam and his fellow cadres have done to help the people.

Mr. Nam together with other cadres helps build a house for a refugee family in Vinh Hoa hamlet.

Mr. Nam and the cadres help the people of Vinh Hoa lay a footbridge

These houses were built through the efforts of the Rural Construction cadres and the refugees
