# Voice of America footage still: large Bashar al-Assad banner on a tower during the rebel advance (Aleppo, 2 December 2024)

A tall office tower under a clear sky carries a vertical banner of a man in a green suit standing with one arm raised, running down much of its front. A Syrian flag with two green stars is draped down the building's side, and power cables cross the foreground. The tell is the scale: a leader's image sized to the building, photographed while the government was losing control of the city.
