# Zachary Taylor, People's Candidate for President (Currier banner), 1848

Horizontal Currier campaign print: two oval bust portraits in laurel wreaths against a stone wall with three stars, Taylor in military uniform and Fillmore in a frock coat. The captions 'People's Candidate for President' and 'Whig Candidate for Vice President' label them; Tells: the label 'People's Candidate' for the general, set against 'Whig Candidate' for Fillmore, casts him as the ordinary voters' own choice (plain-folks) and is a virtue label with no stated claim behind it (glittering generalities). The print makes no claim of momentum or majority.
