# Texas Coming In (pro-Polk cartoon), 1844

Cartoon of a steamboat "Texas" crossing a bridge to Polk, who waves a flag, while Clay, Frelinghuysen, Webster and another man holding the hauling rope are dragged down into Salt River and Garrison on a barrel calls Clay a "blackleg". Tells: annexation shown as irresistible momentum (bandwagon); "blackleg" as a label (name-calling).
