# Thua Thien Victory poster, No. 397 (Vietnamese poster distributed in Saigon)

A Vietnamese photo-and-text sheet headed 'Dong-Tien (Thua-Thien), burying the Communist bandits (7-1-1965)'. Photographs show armoured vehicles, officers pinning medals, a captured-weapons display and, centrally, bodies in dug-in trenches and on open ground, with text reporting 57 enemy killed. The tell is name-calling ('Cong-phi', Communist bandits) with card-stacking: photographs of enemy dead are shown, and the sheet's own losses are given as two killed and two wounded.

DONG-TIEN (THUA-THIEN), GRAVE OF THE COMMUNIST BANDITS (7-1-1965)

Whoever comes to Dong-Tien to see, hundreds of Viet Cong corpses lie strewn over the hill.
After two bitter defeats at Bon-Tri (Huong-Tra) and Do-An (Phu-Vang) on 7-1-1965, the Viet Cong suffered another bitter defeat at Dong-Tien hamlet (Huong-Thuy), Thua-Thien. 57 Communist bandits were killed on the field. Some other dead and wounded were carried away by their comrades. We seized: 3 Russian heavy machine guns, 1 60 mm mortar, 3 K-50 submachine guns, 5 Russian rifles, 4 carbines and a quantity of ammunition, uniforms and equipment. On our side: 2 Civil Guards paid their debt to the country, 2 other Civil Guards were wounded.

M-113 armoured vehicles, the fearsome 'sea crabs' of the battlefield, shot the Communist bandits to pieces in the Dong-Tien battle.
