inaugurated by the Major General Chairman of the Central Executive Committee
on 18.1.1966

On the occasion of his visit to the Republic of Vietnam, U.S. Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey, together with Major General Nguyen-Cao-Ky, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee, visited Tan-Phu village, a pilot new-society area in Tan-Binh district, Gia-Dinh province, on 11-2-1966.

Tan Phu is a new model village established in a record time of 3 months. The whole village was formerly the Phu-Tho-Hoa resettlement center, sparsely populated; since its founding it has gathered over 10 thousand compatriots forming 3 hamlets. It is the first rural village in Gia-Dinh province with sufficient amenities for the people, such as water, electricity, a maternity home, a clinic, offices, schools, etc.
