# British Journalists Don't Waste Words

A pictogram poster compares the page counts of The Times (24 pages pre-war, 8 now) and the Daily Mail (20 pre-war, 4 now) and shows yearly newsprint use falling from 1,250,000 tons to 250,000 tons, with 25 ship icons marked 'shipping saved' at 50,000 tons each. The tell for card-stacking is that the figures carry no source, date or year of comparison; the chart format and the newspaper mastheads lend authority to the claim.
